Hospitals to accept Blue Shield





Blue Shield of California and two HCA-owned hospitals, Los Robles Regional Medical Center and West Hills Hospital & Medical Center, have signed a new agreement for hospital services and programs.


For Los Robles Regional Medical Center, the contract is retroactive to March 1, 2001. The contract with West Hills Hospital & Medical Center went into effect April 1, 2001. The contracts are for commercial HMO and PPO members.


In a joint statement, HCA Vice President, Managed Care, Far West Division, Helen Robbins and Blue Shield Senior Vice President Alan Puzarne said: "We are pleased to come together to reestablish an arrangement that allows access for Blue Shield members and physicians to Los Robles Regional Medical Center and West Hills Hospital & Medical Center. Blue Shield and HCA will continue to work together to maintain a stable, long-term relationship, because we believe that this is in the best interest of the members, physicians and our communities."


Los Robles Regional Medical Center is a 255-bed acute care facility dedicated to serving the residents of Ventura County, the Greater Conejo Valley and its surrounding communities.


A full-service, 236 bed acute care facility, West Hills Hospital & Medical Center offers a comprehensive continuum of general medical services and specialized health care to the community. For more than 40 years, West Hills Hospital & Medical Center has served the West San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities.
