Horse dies in Cold Creek riding mishap

Fri., Oct. 13 brought some bad luck to the rugged Cold Creek Trail near Calabasas.
As a group of five equestrian riders approached the creek late in the day, the last horse in line balked at the crossing, jumped into an embankment, and hit its head on a large jagged rock.
The horse, a 14-year-old Arabian mare named Tinker, later died from a severe skull fracture and bleeding.
