Holiday helpers focus on homeless

ELVES TAKE FIVE—Students from St. Jude the Apostle and La Reina schools as well as local public schools get together to fill about 400 duffle bags with staples for the homeless recently. First they solicited donations of sleeping bags, toothbrushes, socks, toiletries and other essentials from various companies and individuals. Then the students gathered at the home of Steve and Pam Yantzer, parishoners of St. Jude church, to prepare the duffle bags for distribution. This is the fourth year the Yantzers have hosted the festive event, providing Christmas music and cookies for the many volunteers who came to help.
