Holiday boutique planned

Plans for a Holiday Boutique Week are underway at the Hope Chest II, a thrift store that supports Villa Esperanza Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping developmentally disabled adults.

The Holiday Boutique Week is scheduled from Mon., Oct. 10 through Sat., Oct 15 at the Hope Chest II store at 2412 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

Store volunteer Jackie Pizitz of Thousand Oaks said the boutique will be filled with new items donated by two local stores that went out of business.

Joys, a gift store that closed in The Oaks mall, donated holiday and gift merchandise, and Francine’s, a women’s clothing store that formerly operated in the Westlake Promenade, also donated saleable items.

Minou’s Boutique, a women’s fashion store that continues to operate in the Agoura Hills City Mall, also donated a large quantity of high-fashion clothing to the boutique.

A section of the Hope Chest II store will be dedicated to the holiday theme and feature mostly new items but also some antiques, including vintage dolls, said a store volunteer.

“We’ve never had so much stuff as we have now,” said Anne Grant, a volunteer manager for the store. She said that many of the items are seasonal and would be appropriate gifts for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
