Heschel West kids honored





Six Heschel West students were honored recently by the Valley Alliance Jewish Education Committee. The 12th annual Student Awards are presented for outstanding efforts in three areas of Jewish education.


Award recipients for Jewish values were Andrew Cohen of Agoura Hills and Robert Sambol of Hidden Hills. Daniel Gootnick of Agoura Hills and Emily Halbreich of Calabasas received recognition for their outstanding academic growth.


Top achievement awards were presented to Chelsey Raissen of Calabasas and Jacob Vandor of Malibu.


The students chosen for these awards are "a source of pride for their family, their school and to the Jewish community," said Rena Leibovitch, chair of the Student Awards Recognition Program.


Heschel Day School West was founded as the first community Jewish Day School in the Conejo Valley in 1994. Their educational program includes two hours of Judaic Studies and Hebrew per day along with a complete curriculum of mathematics, science, language arts, social studies and enrichment courses of computers, art, music and dance.
