Healing the scars of Borderline, Woolsey fire


Calabasas Behavioral Health and BrainsWay will present a forum titled “After the Smoke Clears” from 3 to 9 p.m. Wed., June 19 at Sagebrush Cantina, 23527 Calabasas Road, Calabasas.

Free to the public, the event will provide residents with self-help tools, resources and support as they continue to recover from the psychological scars the 2018 Woolsey and Hill fires as well as the Borderline shooting.

The event will have hands-on workshops, refreshments, entertainment and food.

An open mic portion of the evening will enable attendees to share their survival stories.

Certified pet therapy teams and professional service dogs will be available. The emotional support animals are provided from Michael Smith, who is a member of the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

The evening will conclude with entertainment by top five “American Idol” contestant Sonika Vaid, actor/singer Joey Gian, and 13-year-old singer/songwriter Cloe Wilder, who leads a mental health platform for young people.

Leading mental health professionals will be available for discussions and demonstrations with attendees.

BrainsWay is a publicly-traded company doing research into the noninvasive treatment of brain disorders.
