Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard will kick off the holidays with its 52nd annual Parade of Lights from noon to 8 p.m. Sat., Dec. 9.

Santa Claus and his reindeer will ride through the sky at 7 p.m. to mark the beginning of the parade of decorated boats, starting in front of Peninsula Park and heading to the Main Channel.

The parade will turn at Hobie Beach, loop in front of the launch ramp, head back to Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club and then repeat the route for a second run.

The parade can be viewed from parks and walkways that line the route and also from most Harbor restaurants.

This year’s parade theme is “Fairy Tales Afloat.”

Holiday arts and crafts vendors will be open at 10 a.m.

Beginning at noon, families can play in 36 tons of snow falling at the north end of Harbor View Park, near Marine Emporium Landing at 3600 Harbor Blvd., Oxnard.

Guests can take photos for free with Santa Claus from noon to 4 p.m.

Any size boat can register for the Parade of Lights. Decorated boats will compete for prizes.
