Guitar Center will sponsor symphony

New West Symphony Executive Director Kenneth Hopper, Guitar Center Chairman and co-CEO Larry Thomas and Guitar Center President and co-CEO Marty Albertson have announced a two-year agreement between New West Symphony and the Guitar Center in which the Westlake Village-based corporation will become the title sponsor and presenter of the symphony’s 2004 and 2005 Young Artists Concerts.

The Guitar Center sponsorship of $100,000 per year is the largest corporate sponsorship in the symphony’s history.

The concerts, formerly known as the Discovery Artists Concerts, will become the "Guitar Center Young Artists Concerts featuring the Discovery Artists 2004(5) and the Ventura County Honor Board." This year’s concerts will be presented Sat. and Sun., Jan. 17 and 18 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza and the Oxnard Performing Arts Center.

Hopper said of the sponsorship, ‘‘Guitar Center’s generous sponsorship will help the symphony broaden the artistic vision and scope of the important program. We look forward to our relationship with the Guitar Center continuing into the future, serving as a model for other alliances between businesses and the New West Symphony."
