Grateful Westlake Women’s Club

The centerfold in the April 7 Acorn was stunning!

On behalf of the entire membership of the Westlake Women’s Club I want to thank you for this example of high end journalism devoted to getting the news out about the nonprofit and The Oaks commercial sectors working together for the community’s benefit in a win-win partnership that benefits all concerned.

The editorial staff at The Acorn should be justifiably proud of this coverage. The full color page is handsome—art floating on light shadow and an elegant type face used in the copy set it apart.

In addition there are many eye-catching aspects any reader would enjoy.

Photography—Wendy Pierro’s varied and imaginative art work was outstanding.

Page layout—supporting the page a wide-angle photo including almost every attendee and nearly 340 identifiable people in one shot. Centered on the page, excellent photos of the principles. Under the headline “Fashions On Parade” the bull’s-eye globe over the runway with a gorgeous model from The Oaks and the elegant close-up shot of the event’s fine details found at each attendee’s place setting.

Accuracy and information— everyone’s name was spelled right. The people pictures were attractive and varied. Details of the story were accurate, balanced and informed. The update about the next fundraiser was right on target and the website for additional information about our work was provided for readers.

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to get our news into The Acorn. It was an honor for us. We’ve already had great feedback from the community at large as well as interest from potential new members and will for a long time to come. Cate Brown Westlake Women’s Club
