Good deeds

Temple Aliyah will host Mitzvah Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sun., Aug. 26 at 6025 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills.

Local charities will provide activities for all ages. The groups will also take in collections of new toys for children, games, books and art supplies as well as toiletries, food, baby toiletries and adult business attire.

The participating charities will be Sharsheret, LA Family Housing, Community of Caring, Family Rescue Center, Newborns in Need and Clothes the Deal.

The event will also have meal assembly with Rise Against Hunger. The goal is to package more than 10,000 meals for shipment across the world.

Financial donations are needed— each meal costs 29 cents— and help to pack the meals is also requested.

Cedars-Sinai will be on site for blood donations from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
