Gold rush for Calabasas Cheetah

Kushaal Tadepalli of the Calabasas Cheetahs Youth Track Club won a gold medal in the shot put at the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics in Kansas.

Kushaal, 12, chucked the shot put 48 feet, 11.75 inches to clinch first place in the midget boys’ shot put event.

The distance is a personal record.

“I felt really good,” Tadepalli said to USATF.org. “When I came here, I just felt like I was going to do really well.”

The Cheetah standout also took fifth in the discus while his twin sister, Sahana, was 12th in the girls’ shot put.
