God vs. politics

I read Lloyd Carter’s letter in The Acorn in which he referred to the president of the United States as a “lunatic.” I personally believe President Obama is a highly intelligent and moral man doing the best job he can in difficult times.

He was, of course, elected to this position by the majority who felt he was the best choice of those who stepped forward. I could go on and cite some examples of his great work, but to those who already know, it would fall on deaf ears.

The real reason I write was to tell you how you remind me of that religious kook who just predicted the end of the world. Or the kook back in Kansas that protests at military funerals over homosexuality.

God has no bearing on national or world matters, never has, never will. You or I have never seen him in action in our lifetime. He is only a thought that resides deep in the recesses of people’s minds, bringing comfort to a dwindling few and comedy to a vast growing majority.

Please keep your silly godspeak to yourself. It has no bearing in the real world.
