Gillette ranch goes to the birds

Guided walks start at 8 and 8:30 a.m.

The National Park Service will host its third annual Bird Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Nov. 12 at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center at King Gillette Ranch, 26876 Mulholland Hwy., Calabasas.

The event will have live bird presentations, representatives from more than 30 bird and environmentally friendly organizations and presentations by bird experts, including Mollie Hogan from Nature of Wildworks.

Guided bird walks will start at 8 and 8:30 a.m.

Kids’ activities will include a “Mommy and Me” reading and Boy Scout merit badges. A food vendor will be on site.

The event is co-sponsored by the NPS; Conejo Valley, San Fernando Valley and Santa Monica Bay Audubon societies; Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority; and Western National Parks Association.

Admission and parking are free.
