UCAAN’s sixth annual Gift Wrap4aCausestoreisopenfrom 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, Wed., Dec. 24 at Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks.

Wrapping is on a donation basis with all the proceeds benefiting programs and services of the United Cancer Advocacy Action Network, a nonprofit grassroots organization.

The store is in a new location between the post office and Shoe Lab in the former Children’s Place store.

Workers will wrap holiday gifts with about 140 paper choices and add-ons. The store has wrapping paper suitable for Hanukkah, New Year’s, birthdays and anniversaries.

Shoppers can drop off gifts and the items will be wrapped while they shop or go to work.

The store also sells handmade jewelry, T-shirts and other UCAAN gifts for a donation. There’s a little elves workshop where patrons can make greeting cards to be sent out to cancer patients nationwide and also a creative clay craft, both available for a donation.

The “Creativity Kicking Cancer” opportunity is a special craft project. Families can make a custom ornament for themselves plus an extra one that is hung on the Tree of Hope for a $5 donation per person.

The store also features a handmade mural of six cartoonlike jungle animals created by UCAAN founder Rachel Shur and volunteers. Children and adults can stand in front of the mural for photos.

UCAAN, based in Thousand Oaks, is volunteer run and provides free local services for cancer patients using a database of over 1,900 organizations nationwide.
