I must take issue with Chris Ashoff’s misguided letter in the March 14 issue of The Acorn.
To begin with, he blames California’s current woeful education rankings on “liberal leadership creating teachers who can’t be fired.”
The actual villain here is not liberals or teachers—it’s the longstanding effect of Proposition 13, that incredibly misguided 1978 law that reduced California property taxes by 57 percent, thereby decimating the funds available to our schools.
