A group of local horse advocates will hold a garage sale to raise funds for the care of offtrack thoroughbreds.

The sale will be from 7 a.m. to noon Sat., June 6 at 5631 Hurford Court, Agoura Hills.

Donations are being sought such as household goods, furniture, clothing and animal care items, and may be left on the driveway of 5631 Hurford Court.

Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Neigh Savers Foundation, which seeks to rescue and rehabilitate former racehorses from the slaughterhouse and provide them with new homes and caretakers.

Neigh Savers has assisted with more than 50 off-track rescues in the past year.

“Because Neigh Savers is 100 percent volunteer driven and most of our services are donated, nearly every cent of each dollar donated is directly given back to the care of the horses,” said Nicole Rawnsley, Southern California area director. “We do not have a facility of our own but rather rely on our partners to temporarily house horses if necessary.”
