Freeway becomes landing strip

Commuters on the 23 Freeway had their drive interrupted Monday when a small single-engine plane had to make an emergency landing during the middle of rush hour after it ran out of fuel.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. Jan. 11 the aircraft touched down on the southbound 23 Freeway near the Tierra Rejada Road exit in Moorpark as stunned drivers looked on. The plane, a Diamond DA20-C1, belongs to Encore Flight Academy based out of Van Nuys Airport.
