Free law forum addresses the issue of identity theft

The Ventura College of Law will present a free consumer law forum, "Credit Cards and Identity Theft," at 6:30 p.m. Tues., Aug. 27 on the college campus, 4475 Market St., Ventura.

The forum is one in an ongoing series provided to assist and educate the public in important areas of California law.

"Credit Cards and Identity Theft" will review the terms and transaction fees imposed by credit card issuers so that the consumer can shop around for the best deal, limit financial loss if cards are lost or stolen, avoid credit card fraud and related credit card scams.

The presentation will also provide advice on preventing identity theft, reporting and correcting your credit history if you are a victim of identity theft, and how this crime is prosecuted.

The presenters will be Gregory Brose and Howard Wise of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
