Folk duo to perform at house concert

The Bodie House in Agoura Hills will feature the husband and wife team of Maura and Pete Kennedy performing at 8 p.m. Sat., March 4. Admission is $15 and directions will be provided upon an RSVP to (818) 706-8309 or BodieHouse@aol.com.

Proceeds go to the musicians.

The Kennedys play “jangly folk-pop shot through with influences of the Byrds and Beatles,” according to the concert hosts.

Maura Kennedy hails from Central New York bands, including Sparse Frontiers (an early’80s group inspired by the English folk) and the Delta Rays (a late-’80s band featuring a more pop-country sound).

Washington, D.C.-based Pete Kennedy first gained national attention in the ’80s as guitarist for Mary Chapin Carpenter. Later, in addition to writing and recording his own compositions, Kennedy played guitar for Nanci Griffith.

The Kennedys have recorded two critically acclaimed and highly successful albums, “River of Fallen Stars” in 1995 and “Life Is Large” in 1996, according to the concert hosts.
