Focus on PRISMM

PRISMM (Protectors and Residents in the Santa Monica Mountains) is not an anti-development organization. We believe in putting community needs before developers’ interests.

We know that local residents should have input and influence over what is about to become our “downtown” regarding traffic, density and aesthetics. These decisions should not be made behind closed doors by developers alone.

Development was a main issue in the last election and the people have spoken. We are encouraged by the composition of the newly seated Agoura Hills City Council. We want them to seriously consider and address the new realities of climate change, fire danger and weather events that were not at the forefront when the original Agoura Village Plan was conceived.

Our communities are threatened by the massive density and scale of the pending Agoura Village East, Cornerstone and the West Village projects and the unsustainable traffic that these developments, in their current forms, will bring to Kanan Road and access to the 101 Freeway.

It is for these reasons that we ask the new City Council to protect the community by reviewing developments that endanger us and exercise the good stewardship that our proximity to the Santa Monica Mountains requires.

We hope that the council will include the members of the community in deliberations about the future of such developments.

It is our aim to inspire the community participation that we all need to make this endeavor a successful one. The developers and their lobbyists hope you will ignore every one of these matters until it is too late.
