From 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, Thurs., April 1, the Madrid Theatre will host a reception for the artists whose works will be displayed throughout the lobbies of the theatre during April and May.


Colorful works on silk by Linda Bolhuis, impasto’d oils by Elizabeth Gorcey and Carole Spence’s acrylic paintings will celebrate the spring season with vibrant floral images.


Tying in with the event, flower arrangements created by local florists will be displayed at the reception for the artists.


Admission is free. RSVP to the box office at (818) 347-9938. The theatre is at 21622 Sherman Way, Canoga Park.


At 3 p.m. Sun., April 4, the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department will present "Double Take" Dance Performance with Benita Bike Dance Company at the Madrid. The event is free to the public and is intended to serve as an introduction to dance as performance art.


"Double Take" by the Dance Art Company includes dance performance, an introduction to modern dance, and an opportunity for audience members to discuss the dances with the artists. Call the box office for more information.
