Five Acres, the 114-year-old therapeutic prevention, treatment and education center for abused and at-risk children in Altadena, has recognized the vital contributions of various individuals and organizations, bestowing community service awards during its recent annual meeting at the Caltech Athenaeum.


The 2002 Community Service Award recipients included Stan Weston of Westlake Village. Weston, who first became associated with the agency in 1989 when he was hired as a project manager for its Arts & Education Building, was presented with Person of the Year honors for his exceptional dedication, support and inspirational leadership to help further the programs and goals of Five Acres since 1991.


In the past 13 years, he has overseen the renovation and maintenance of many other structures on and off campus, lending his construction knowledge by consulting and advising at every step of a project.
