Fighting fraud

Losing a home to fraud is a terrible thing. Yet every day in our community, con artists, fraudulent contractors, foreclosure consultants, equity purchasers and phony lenders try to do just that.

To stop these frauds, we want the community to know about a free service we offer to protect homeowners and bring the perpetrators of these frauds to justice. We can help homeowners:

•Prevent the loss of their homes to fraud and foreclosure;

•Understand contracts and deal with a home improvement contractor;

•Settle complaints concerning foreclosure frauds and other common scams.

For free assistance 24 hours a day, call our Real Estate Fraud hotline at (800) 973-3370. Sponsored by Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, the Homeowner Fraud Prevention Program is a free service of Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs.
