FDA info available at Website

The Website of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: www.fda.gov has been newly redesigned to give visitors quicker, easier access to the information they need.

The site contains news and information about recently approved medical products, safety alerts and much more, including:

Automated e-mail lists to which you can subscribe to keep up with the latest news about products the FDA regulates. One list provides a weekly digest of FDA news, including summaries of press releases and important FDA reports. Other specialized lists, such as those for food scientists, are also available. A page detailing all the lists can be reached from the FDA home page.

A "reference room" with Federal Register notices and useful background on laws and regulations related to FDA. Comments that FDA receives from the public on its proposed regulations are also available.

Links to sites maintained by FDA’s centers, which carry out the day-to-day work of regulating food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices and other products. These sites offer special information for consumers on topics such as dietary supplements, cancer treatments, vaccines, and mammography.

Targeted information for cancer patients, AIDS patients, older Americans, women, and other special audiences.

An archive of FDA press releases and other news items dating back to 1992.
