Faithful visit ‘graves of the fathers’

 Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries will host free Kever Avot Community Memorial Services Sun., Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills and 1 p.m. at Mount Sinai Simi Valley.
Kever Avot, which in Hebrew means “graves of the fathers,” is an ancient custom dating back to the beginning of Jewish history. Each year, between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Jewish families visit the cemetery to pay homage to parents and loved ones and to gain strength through communal prayer.
