Fairy tale with a twist plays out in the parks





Gypsies in a Trunk will open its 12th season of Fairytales in the Park with a new twist on “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Jack and his mother are very poor and Jack must get a job after school to help out.

Lazy Jack would prefer to surf the Internet and decides to sell some things on eBay, including his mother’s pet cow.

Beans and giants and a parrot that lays golden eggs round out the show as the audience helps teach the giant and Jack some good manners.

The family-friendly performances will be:

+ Sat., May 6 at Rancho Simi Bicentennial Ampitheater in Rancho Simi Park, Simi Valley

+Sun., May 7at Pleasant Valley Community Center, Channel Islands Harbor

+Sat., May 13 at Barranca Vista Park, Camarillo

+Sat., May 13 at Harbor View Park, Ventura

Ground seating is available at all locations and guests may bring blankets, lunch or snacks, but not pets. The shows are free, but donations will be accepted.

The play is written by Roxanne Diesel and directed by John Diesel. Cast members include John Logue, Pat Newbert, Gabriel Vega and Roxanne Diesel.
