Fair promises big fun despite cutbacks

Increased operating expenses and lower attendance have taken their toll on the Ventura County Fair, coming in August.

In a cost-cutting move, operators have canceled the fair’s traditional parade and reduced the number of fireworks displays from 12 nights to four.
