Exercise for seniors




Pierce College’s Encore Program will offer two free exercise classes for adults over 55 in the fall semester starting at the end of August.

The class on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center will offer low-impact aerobic activities to improve stamina, coordination, daily function and resistance for muscle strength, balance and posture. Participants must be able to get on and off the floor independently.

Classes Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. at Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center will offer seated and standing low-impact aerobic excises to build endurance, resistance exercises for strength and tai chi/qigong for posture, coordination, balance and improved daily function.

No floor work is required. Part of the class will involve outdoor walking; come prepared with a hat and sunscreen.

The instructor is Chris Netto who has a degree in kinesiology.
