Enough of the Kanan traffic

Thank you for the article regarding the traffic on Kanan Road.

Having streamed the City Council meeting of March 13 and viewed the public comments by Larry Brown, I wanted to cite a couple of additional quotes.

Brown said, “Tweaking traffic signals to go off a second earlier or later to improve the flow of traffic while simultaneously adding anything even remotely like Agoura Village as currently proposed, is like going hunting for big game with ping-pong paddles.”

He went on to say that while technological fixes might be helpful, “They represent minutia, a mere drop in the bucket.”

He said if the city allows Agoura Village applicants to add 30,000 more cars a day to Kanan, the very same Kanan Road they are currently grasping at straws to fix, the “incongruity is laughable.”

That is without even getting into how the additional traffic would impact evacuation routes.

The Agoura Hills City Council is going to have to face the reality that the city is already built out to a point at which nothing is going to significantly reduce traffic, and the one and only thing they can do is not make traffic worse by adding to it.
