Drummer’s all-star band comes to The Canyon

Former Chicago member debutnew group with top musicians

Danny Seraphine, the former drummer for the band Chicago, will bring an all-star band, California Transit Authority (CTA), to The Canyon club in Agoura Hills on Fri., Jan. 27 for its first major public performance.

CTA features a line-up of some of L.A.’s finest musicians, putting a new spin on some CTA and Chicago numbers, jazz-rock classics and new material.  The band is comprised of Seraphine on drums, Marc Bonilla on lead guitar, Mick Mahan on bass guitar, Ed Roth on keyboards, Peter Fish on keyboards, Mike Wallace on guitar, and Robert Mason on vocals.   The band will perform “I’m a Man,” an instrumental version of “Make Me Smile” and “25 or 6 to 4.”

“We’re adding in some truly great CTA and Chicago album cuts that we love doing, like ‘South California Purples,’ ‘Happy Cause I’m Going Home’ and ‘Devil’s Sweet,’ a be-bop number which I co-wrote off ‘Chicago VII’ which has a challenging drum solo,” said Seraphine. “Our real calling card though is a hard driving jazz rock instrumental, a Cannonball Adderley number called ‘Something Different’ which shows off Marc Bonilla’s virtuosity, both as a player and an arranger,” said Seraphine.

The Canyon is at 28912 Roadside Drive, Agoura Hills. Call (818) 879-5016 for show time and ticket pricing.
