Drivers should stop ‘whining’ about tickets

I have been reading with great interest the comments regarding ticketing by law enforcement officers in our area. All I can say to the whiny folks that feel it is unfair to be ticketed for speeding, making a “California stop,” running yellow and red lights, not slowing in school zones when occupied by kids, changing lanes without proper signaling, etc. is, get a life!

I have lived in Oak Park for 26 years and as a careful driver without tickets or accidents, I can say with conviction that I have never seen worse drivers in all my life. Between Lindero Canyon and Sunnycrest on Kanan Road, the speed for many drivers is closer to 60 than 45. Yesterday I followed a woman that made two right turns on red lights without even slowing. Kids and adults alike run lights that have turned red and there is virtually no reduction in speed while kids are present in the school zones.

Lindero between Kanan Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard is like a freeway. And God forbid you are driving the speed limit, because you will either be tailgated or flipped off.

The officers of our Sheriffs departments and Highway Patrol are if anything not issuing enough tickets. If you drive carefully, defensively and obey the rules of the road, you will not be stopped and will not receive a citation. If you don’t want to obey the law and drive responsibly, I suggest either change the traffic laws to your satisfaction or move. Art Guy Oak Park
