Vehicles used by presidents, popes and stars at Reagan exhibit

Rare, historical and iconic cars from real life, TV and movies will be on display in the “Amazing Automobiles: The Ultimate Car Exhibit” from Oct. 28 through May 1, 2015, at the Reagan Library, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

The exhibit is in partnership with the Petersen Automotive Museum to showcase some of the Petersen’s cars during the time that museum is closed to the public for renovation. Most of these cars come from the Petersen’s vault and have not been seen by regular museum-goers.

At the Reagan Library, the cars will be separated into themed galleries for Hollywood, History and Heads of State.

In the Hollywood Gallery, cars used in television and movies, as well as owned by celebrities, will be displayed from Oct. 28 through May 1, 2015 including: 1956 XKSS owned by Steve McQueen, 1971 DeTomaso Pantera owned by Elvis Presley, Batmobile from the movies “Batman” and “Batman Returns,” 1946 custom Ford used in “Grease,” 1966 Ford Thunderbird driven in “Thelma and Louise” and the 2001 custom Honda Roadster from “2 Fast, 2 Furious.”

In the Heads of State Gallery, cars will be on display from Nov. 17 through October 2015. This gallery will include: Pope John Paul II’s 1998 Cadillac Papal Parade Phaeton, 1942 Lincoln Limousine used by Presidents Roosevelt and Truman, and the 1938 Packard Super 8 Parade Phaeton used by Juan and Evita Peron, President and First Lady of Argentina.

The automobiles in the Historic

Cars Gallery will be shown Jan. 31 through May 1, 2015. These cars include: 1981 Gold- Plated DeLorean DMC-12, 1952 Ferrari 212/215 Inter Spyder, 1913 Mercer Raceabout and a 1939 Bugatti 57C Atalante.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
