Don’t shame the dog owner

Regarding last week’s letter about the lady who left her dog in the car and was called out publicly in a movie theater, the word “overreaction” is probably an understatement.

Dog advocates have really gone over the top, even when it concerns other people’s dogs.

Most of us really go out of our way for our pets, even when making a decision on something as expensive as purchasing a home.

The weather was perfectly fine for the dog to be left in the car.

This family had the opportunity to do something in which their dog couldn’t be involved and did something for themselves that day.

It seems like so many people have service dogs for a variety of reasons these days but it sounds like this couple also has a dog that needed them and loves them and wants to be with them.

The way the owners were shamed in public was very inappropriate, in my opinion. Yes, if it was horrifically hot, it would have been understandable.

Now I’m worried I can’t even run into the grocery store for a minute if my dog is with me.

How will someone know I’ve only been gone long enough to grab a gallon of milk?
