Local wildlife ecologists use the term “living on the urban fringe” to describe how our homes creep up on open space and how the denizens of open space sometimes creep up on our homes.
This is especially the case with rattlesnakes, masters of slithering where they please because few obstacles really faze them, except perhaps a really well-buried chicken wire fence.
