Dogs will have their day at Nuts for Mutts




The sixth annual Nuts for Mutts–The Walk & Festival 2010 will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun., April 18 at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road, Calabasas.

The event will benefit the animal rescue group New Leash on Life, the Calabasas Rotary and the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center.

The family fundraiser will feature a 5K walk-athon through the rolling hills of Calabasas. Route highlights will include “pawzstations” with water, food and activities for pets and their owners.

The Nuts for Mutts Festival will feature live music, celebrity appearances, food, a beer garden presented by the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce, Kid’s Fun Zone, pet adoption, a silent auction and more than 40 vendors.

Celebrity judges will include Peter Mensah (“Spartacus: Blood & Sand,” “Avatar”), David Moore (“Avatar”), Mark Thompson (Fox 11 News), Tia Maria Torres (Animal Planet’s “Pit Bulls and Parolees”) and Annie Wersching (“24”).

Two new special competitions require advance registration at www.nutsformutts.org. Project Dogway will have canines modeling custom creations made by their humans. Awards will be offered for designers in categories such as evening, sport, everyday casual, resort and couture.

Owners can also sign up for Hollywood Pet Tricks and let industry professionals judge their pet’s special talent.

Admission to the festival is free.
