Documentary film opens in Westlake

The documentary, "Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport," now playing at the Westlake Village Twin Theatre, details a courageous and caring rescue mission conducted by Britain that saved the lives of thousands of Jewish and other children who likely would have perished during World War II.

The children ("kinder") were from Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia, and they were relocated to foster homes and hostels in Britain in the nine months prior to the outbreak of war.

Sadly, though the children survived, for most of them their hope of being reunited with families left behind was never fulfilled.

This documentary tells their story through first person accounts of the child survivors and those who assisted them.

The Westlake Village Twin Theatre is at 4711 Lakeview Canyon Road, Westlake Village.
