The Westlake Village Disaster Response Team will offer FEMA/CERT training classes for interested citizens within the community. The classes will be taught by a Los Angeles City firefighter/FEMA trainer.
The classes are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, March 29, April 26, May 31 and June 28 at Westlake Village City Hall, 31200 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village. The training course will include the following:
Introduction, earthquake and terrorism awareness; disaster fire suppression techniques; disaster medical operations and multi-casualty incidents; light search and rescue operations; team organization and management; and a course review and disaster simulation.
There is no cost to attend; however, the city of Westlake Village prefers that residents commit to attending all four classes. A FEMA/CERT certification will only be provided to those who complete all four sessions of training.
To register, please call City Hall at (818) 706-1613.
