Disabilities awareness Shabbat

The community is invited to a special Shabbat to celebrate the fourth annual Jewish Disability Awareness Month at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Feb. 24 at Temple Adat Elohim, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Among the speakers will be 7-year-old congregant Joshua Goldenberg of Simi Valley, who will discuss his project of bringing Braille to grocery store shelves locally and nationally.

The service will be led by Rabbi Ted Riter; Rabbi Rebecca Dubowe, a member of the Jewish Deaf Community; and Cantor David Shukiar.

The Shabbat will focus on ways to break down physical, communication and attitudinal barriers; educate communities on accessibility and inclusion; and reach out to Jews with disabilities.
