Scouting provides educational programs for youth and young adults to build character, train good citizens, and develop personal fitness.

With 104 years of service, each year the organization provides Scouting opportunities to over 7,200 young people: boys ages 7 to 20 and girls ages 12 to 20.

Youth form community fellowship by participating in outdoor activities, service projects, conflict resolution and team-building exercises.

Boy Scouts offers more than 140 merit badges covering architecture, business, citizenship, sports, sciences and trades. Scouts can explore future career options as they earn their merit badges.

Ventura County Council also provides a Scoutreach program to at-risk boys and girls in underprivileged communities. These youth have little or no extracurricular activities available to them. The Scoutreach staff provides in school and after school classes with a values-based curriculum.

This year, the council also honored 204 Eagle Scouts who led service projects to enhance schools and other organizations throughout Ventura County.

Council-wide, Scouts and volunteers provided over 250,000 hours of community service. More than 130,000 food items were collected during the annual Scouting for Food drive.
