10-year anniversary of Metrolink collision in Chatsworth

It was rush hour Fri., Sept. 12, 2008, when the unthinkable happened.
A Union Pacific Railroad freight train headed south at about 40 mph at 4:22 p.m. exited a tunnel near Chatsworth and came face-to-face with northbound Metrolink Train No. 111, which was traveling at about 43 mph on the same track and carrying 127 passengers..
The head-on collision that resulted killed 25 people, including 10 Simi Valley residents, two residents of Thousand Oaks and three Camarillo residents.
