Deputy is right, public should have been warned

It’s not often that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department turns on its own, but recently it was announced Lt. Jim Royal was being put on the sidelines due to his criticism of the sheriff’s Malibu Creek State Park shooting investigation that began in 2016.
Royal said his request to warn the public about the random gunfire in Malibu Canyon was thwarted by sheriff’s brass. The shootings continued and were followed by the murder of a park camper in 2018.
