Deputy earns state lifesaving medal

Scott Sand, 52, runs a home security and audiovisual company in Calabasas. He’s also a reserve deputy with Malibu Search and Rescue through the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, and on Dec. 6 Sand will be given a medal by the state for saving a man’s life in his off-duty hours.

Last April , Sand and his partner in the sheriff’s department, Stephen Marshall, 36, were in North Hollywood buying home security equipment when a store employee had a heart attack.
