Defending the governor


Regarding the letter “Ban on gas in an overreach”—The writer complains about one person with the power to ban gasoline-powered cars and gas stoves. And to quote the gentleman, “What word describes one person ruling the masses?”

That one person was elected by a majority of the masses; that’s democracy.

I wonder if this writer realizes that the majority of first cars made in the U.S. were electric. They only faded when gasoline became so cheap; I remember 15.9 cents per gallon. Now gasoline is neither the cheapest or the healthiest fuel.

As to living in China vs. California, in California the author is allowed to express his opinions; he couldn’t do that in China.
