Dave & Buster’s ready to hire

A Dave & Buster’s in Thousand Oaks is one step closer to becoming a reality.

The arcade-themed American restaurant is advertising jobs at its future Conejo Valley location, which is slated to fill the retail space left empty by Sports Authority on Hillcrest Drive next to Sears.

There are seven advertised openings on the Dave & Buster’s corporate job site, including restaurant manager, amusements manager and kitchen manager positions. But a managerial staff isn’t the only puzzle piece the restaurant chain will have to put into place before they open.

Haider Alawami, City of Thousand Oaks economic development manager, told The Acorn that while the company has filed its initial application with the city, it still has several boxes to check before staff can start serving cocktails and steaks alongside arcade games.

He said it was premature to nail down an approximate opening date.

“It’s too early for that,” he said. “But it is moving forward.”

Alawami said the organization plans to make architectural changes to the outside of the building, which will require approval from city planners.

The operators would need a liquor license from the state and a special-use permit from the planning commission to allow for the consumption of alcohol on the premises.

The Dallas-based chain, which has 84 locations throughout the U.S., 12 in California, signed a lease earlier this year for the site, which is owned by Seritage Growth Properties.

Calls to Dave & Buster’s corporate headquarters were not immediately returned.
