Rhythm Machine, dancers from the Retter’s Academy of Dance in Agoura Hills, won highest honors at the recent Encore Dance Competition in Las Vegas.

Highest honors went to the school’s senior company (ages 13 to 18) for “Over the Rainbow,” choreographed by Linda Bernabei-Retter. They were platinum winners and first place grand champions of the entire competition, earning the highest score out of all competing numbers.

Junior company was named national high-scoring large group for “I Could Have Danced All Night,” choreographed by Reagan Marie.

The senior and teen companies received highest scoring production for “Check It Out,” choreographed by Darryl Retter.

Dancers from these three numbers were invited to perform in the Encore banquet, a special honor given to the leading scorers.

Individual awards went to: Cory Swatosh, the George Lather Scholarship award; Ruby Gibson, junior performer of the year; Alyssa Mandell, leadership award; Tessa Gidish, “I’m a Good Listener” award; and Dylan Ptacek, “I Try My Best” award.
