Cuban music to fill the theater




The Scherr Forum will feature the music of Cuba L.A. at 8:30 p.m. Sat., March 19 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Cuba L.A., led by Grammy Award-winning flautist and founding member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra Danilo Lozano, mixes rhythms, forms and instrumentations from different regions of the country.

The group also includes: Luis Eric González, who has performed with Rick Martin, Tito Puento and Celia Cruz; Arturo Velasco, known for his work on “Neil Diamond: Hot August Night”; Johnny “Dandy” Rodriguez Jr., leader of the Mambo Legends Orchestra: Michito Sanchez, a percussionist who has performed with Tito Puente, Elvis Costello and Bruce Hornsby; Alberto Salas, Grammy-winning producer, arranger, keyboardist and percussionist; and Jorge Sawa-Perez, bassist of Cubanismo.
