Credit union largesse

Logix Community Stars, the nonprofit foundation of Logix Federal Credit Union, announced it has distributed $100,000 to four local nonprofit organizations.

The charities will allocate the dollars for programs and services to support their clients.

Burbank Temporary Aid Center, Circle of Hope, For The Troops and Penny Lane Centers each received a check for $25,000.

Community Stars has been serving local charities through financial contributions and volunteerism since 2007.

“ Logix is dedicated to serving the community in a variety of ways. Supporting our nonprofit partners is an important way we can demonstrate that commitment,” said Billy Santangelo, branch manager at the credit union’s Simi Valley-Tapo Canyon location.

“For The Troops is one of our employees’ favorite charities,” Santangelo said.

For The Troops has been working with Logix since 2008. The credit union is the top supporter of the volunteer run nonprofit.

“The employees at Logix have stood behind us for more than a decade,” said Paula Cornell, For The Troops co-founder.

“On more than one occasion, we had care packages ready to go, but we needed funds to mail them. Monthly postage expenses are around $25,000, and when we prepare packages, we want to be able to ship. That’s where Logix continues to help.”

Every year, the Community Stars Foundation board selects charities to support in each of the communities served by Logix.

The credit union’s employees make voluntary contributions to the sponsored charities via payroll deductions through Community Stars’ Contributions Program and special fundraising events. Logix also offers a donation matching program for employees who participate in the program.
