Craft workshop offered





Native American educator Oscar Ortiz will present a cultural craft workshop in two sessions on Sun., Feb. 27 in the Native American Indian Culture Center at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa, Newbury Park. Sessions are from 10 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.


Reservations are recommended but not required. The program and parking are free.


Ortiz will guide visitors through the traditional yucca cordage techniques to create a friendship bracelet and a bullroarer (ancient noisemaker). The works of Ortiz have their origins in the Mayan culture.
