Candidates take notice as voter block continues to grow

According to a January report released by Gov. Jerry Brown’s office, Latinos will be the largest ethnic group in the Golden State before the end of the year.
Of California’s estimated 38 million residents, 14.4 million, or about 38 percent, are Latino. They are expected to slightly outnumber the state’s non-Hispanic white population sometime in the coming year.
