Conservancy addresses homeless

Agency reviewing proposals in effort to clean up encampments at river bottom

The Nature Conservancy’s office in Ventura recently took bids from qualified individuals, teams and companies to find and help people living in homeless encampments in the river bottom of the Santa Clara River and at Ormond Beach in Oxnard.
Those habitat areas are continuously threatened by byproducts of homeless encampments, including trash, human waste, wildfires started by campfires, and illegal hunting and fishing, said conservancy spokesperson Kat Selm, who wrote up the request for proposal...
